Monk Visits at ETHOS: Free Buddhist Talks in Srithanu, Koh Phangan

Monk Visits at ETHOS: Integrating Buddhism in Daily Life

Once a month, ETHOS opens its doors for something a little different from our usual class schedule — a free talk with Senior Thai Monk Ajahn Maitree, open to anyone in the community, whether you’re a lifelong Srithanu local or just passing through the island for a few days.

It’s one of the ways we try to bridge two worlds that don’t always overlap on Koh Phangan: the village community that’s called this island home for generations, and the international travelers who come here for yoga, healing, and slower living. Buddhist wisdom belongs to both — and this class is built to be approachable for either.

About Ajahn Maitree

With over forty years of monastic experience, Ajahn Maitree brings a rare depth of insight to these sessions. He shares timeless Buddhist teachings on how to live with greater happiness, peace, and joy — not as abstract philosophy, but as practical tools drawn directly from the Buddha’s own teachings. Expect simple, meaningful ways to bring mindfulness and compassion into your everyday life, so that each day becomes a genuine opportunity to flourish.

This isn’t an advanced or academic class. It’s built for anyone curious about authentic, practical Buddhist wisdom — no prior knowledge or practice needed.

What to expect

The session runs as an open, heartfelt teaching — part talk, part shared reflection — held right in our café space in the heart of Srithanu. Come as you are, bring your questions, and expect a calm, welcoming afternoon.
